As a part of their State Visit to Turkey, the Governor-General, Hon Sir Anand Satyanand, and Lady Satyanand, visited the Topkapi Palace in Istanbul on 23 April 2009. The Palace, now a Museum, was the official residence of the Ottoman sultans from 1465 to 1853. Pictured with the Governor-General and Lady Satyanand is the Museum President Professor Dr Ilber Ortayli (left) and New Zealand's Ambassador to Turkey, Hamish Cooper (right).
