Governor-General's salary

A statement from Government House regarding the Governor-General's salary.

Government House advises that on 27 January 2009, the Governor-General, Hon Anand Satyanand, requested the Clerk of the Executive Council, Rebecca Kitteridge, to write to the Chairman of the Remuneration Authority, David Oughton, advising that he wished to forgo a salary increase this year.  A letter to this effect was sent on 29 January 2009.

Government House can also advise that the Governor-General and the Prime Minister, Hon John Key, have agreed that the Governor-General's allowance will not be increased automatically in accordance with the Consumers Price Index as has occurred in previous years, resulting in a nil increase.
