King of Tonga's Coronation

  • <span class="title">Meeting the Samoan Head of State</span><br/>While in Tonga, the Governor-General Hon Anand Satyanand and Mrs Susan Satyanand met the Head of State of Samoa, HH Tui Atua Tupua Tamasese Efi, and his wife, HH Masiofo Filifilia Tamasese on 31 July 2008.
  • <span class="title">King of Tonga's Coronation</span><br/>The Governor-General, Hon Anand Satyanand, and Mrs Susan Satyanand, and Prime Minister Rt Hon Helen Clark, represented New Zealand at the Coronation of the King of Tonga, HM King George Tupou V at the Centennial Church in Nuku'alofa on 1 August 2008. The Governor-General and Mrs Satyanand are pictured speaking to the King at the Royal Palace after the Coronation.
  • <span class="title">Vice-Regal breakfast</span><br/>While in Tonga, the Governors-General of New Zealand and Australia co-hosted a breakfast gathering of Vice-Regal Representatives at the New Zealand High Commission Residence in Nuku'alofa on 2 August 2008. At the gathering were (from left): Sir Peter Kenilorea, Speaker of the House and Acting Governor-General of the Solomon Islands; Sir Paulias Matane, Governor-General of Papua New Guinea; Hon Anand Satyanand, Governor-General of New Zealand; Sir Frederick Goodwin, Queen's Representative of the Cook Islands; and Major General Michael Jeffrey, Governor-General of Australia.

The Governor-General, Hon Anand Satyanand, and Mrs Susan Satyanand, represented New Zealand at the coronation celebrations for the King of Tonga in July and August 2008.
