  • <span class="title">Chunuk Bair Address</span><br/>The Governor-General, Hon Sir Anand Satyanand, spoke at the New Zealand National Service at Chunuk Bair on 25 April 2009.
  • <span class="title">Investiture for Jessie Gunn</span><br/><p>  Colonel (Rtd) Jessie Gunn received the Insignia of a Companion of the Queen's Service Order from Governor-General, Hon Sir Anand Satyanand, at an investiture ceremony in Canakkale in Turkey on 23 April 2009.  Col Gunn, who was the Director of Veterans' Affairs New Zealand for eight years from 1999, received the honour for services to veterans.  </p>  <p>      </p>

  • <span class="title">Son of the last Veteran</span><br/>While in Gallipoli for ANZAC Day commemorations, the Governor-General, Hon Sir Anand Satyanand, and Lady Satyanand, met Turgut Kaçmaz, the son of Turkey's last surviving Gallipoli veteran.
  • <span class="title">Chunuk Bair Service</span><br/>The Governor-General, Hon Sir Anand Satyanand, spoke at the New Zealand National Service at Chunuk Bair on 25 April 2009.  After the service, the Governor-General and Lady Satyanand met some of the New Zealanders who had travelled to Turkey to attend the Gallipoli Commemorations.  They included Jodine Sheppard (who is pictured holding the two kiwi soft toys), Richard Sharp (pictured between the Governor-General and Lady Satyanand) and Tony Sharp (far left behind Ms Sheppard).
  • <span class="title">French National Service</span><br/>The Governor-General, Hon Sir Anand Satyanand, and Lady Satyanand attended the French National Service at the French Memorial at Morto Bay on 24 April 2009.
  • <span class="title">International Service Book of Honour</span><br/>The Governor-General, Hon Sir Anand Satyanand, and Lady Satyanand, attended the Turkish International Service at the Turkish National Memorial at Cape Helles on 24 April 2009 where the Governor-General signed the Book of Honour
  • <span class="title">International Service</span><br/>As a part of their State Visit to Turkey, the Governor-General, Hon Sir Anand Satyanand, and Lady Satyanand, attended the Turkish International Service at the Turkish National Memorial at Cape Helles on 24 April 2009.  The Governor-General is pictured speaking at the service.
  • <span class="title">International Service wreathlaying</span><br/>As a part of their State Visit to Turkey, the Governor-General, Hon Sir Anand Satyanand, and Lady Satyanand, attended the Turkish International Service at the Turkish National Memorial at Cape Helles on 24 April 2009.  The Governor-General is pictured laying a wreath as a part of the service.
  • <span class="title">Honorary Consul</span><br/>As a part of their State Visit to Turkey, the Governor-General, Hon Sir Anand Satyanand, and Lady Satyanand, had lunch with New Zealand's honorary consul in Istanbul on 23 April 2009.  Pictured from left were: Lady Satyanand; Izzet Hatem, Honorary Consul; the Governor-General; Hon Judith Collins, Minister of Veterans' Affairs; Mrs Hatem; and Hamish Cooper, New Zealand's Ambassador to Turkey.
  • <span class="title">Topkapi Palace </span><br/>As a part of their State Visit to Turkey, the Governor-General, Hon Sir Anand Satyanand, and Lady Satyanand, visited the Topkapi Palace in Istanbul on 23 April 2009.  The Palace, now a Museum, was the official residence of the Ottoman sultans from 1465 to 1853.  Pictured with the Governor-General and Lady Satyanand is the Museum President Professor Dr Ilber Ortayli (left) and New Zealand's Ambassador to Turkey, Hamish Cooper (right).
  • <span class="title">Bosporus Cruise</span><br/>As a part of their State Visit to Turkey, the Governor-General, Hon Sir Anand Satyanand and Lady Satyanand, went for a cruise on the Bosporus, the waterway that connects the Black Sea and the Sea of Marmara, on 22 April 2009.  In the background is the Dolmabahçe Sarayı, which served as the administrative centre of the former Ottoman Empire.  The Palace, located on the European side of the Bosporus, was built between 1843 and 1856.

The Governor-General, Hon Sir Anand Satyanand, and Lady Satyanand, undertook a State Visit to Turkey from 22 April 2009. The visit included attending and speaking at ANZAC Day commemorations at Gallipoli.
