State Dining Room

  • <span class="title">Children of Charles I</span><br/>The Children of Charles I (School of Sir Anthony van Dyck). This painting is of the future Charles II, James II and Mary (the first Princess Royal and, later, Princess of Orange - her only son became William III). This painting is a replica of the famous original now hanging in Windsor Castle.

The State Dining Room is used for formal dinners and 26 people can be seated at the long extending table, which dates from about 1880. The State Dining Room also contains the remarkable and very valuable portrait collection given to the House by Lord Norrie, at the end of his term as Governor-General, in 1957.
